Junior MacDowell

Junior MacDowell Club

The Junior MacDowell Club was formed in 2009 as a division of the MacDowell Club of Canton.  This club provides an opportunity for students in grades 1-12 of MacDowell Club teachers or sponsored by MacDowell Club members to perform for each other.  Most performances will be in Cable Recital Hall and will be scheduled for various Sunday afternoons from September to April.  We have an abundance of young talent in our community and we are certain they will benefit from playing for and with other young musicians, as well as hearing other students perform.

We are currently developing a list of private instrumental and vocal teachers of school age children.  The teachers of these students must be members of The MacDowell Club of Canton.  Teachers who are not members of the adult club are encouraged to join (dues are $25) so that their students may participate.

We certainly hope that this new venture will provide opportunities for young people to perform as well as to attend the recitals, even if they are not performing.  A Junior MacDowell Club was part of the 100 year heritage of The MacDowell Club of Canton and is one that we feel will be worthwhile to all who participate.  The Junior MacDowell Club will hopefully inspire young students to enjoy “Music for Life”.
